Ahotor M/A Headteacher recommends SMC, PTA take part GES’ CPD Day.

Mr. Awudu Issaka, Headteacher of Ahotor M/A Basic School in Atebubu Bono-East Region, has made a compelling argument for involving School Management Committees, Parents and Teachers Associations, and other key stakeholders in the observation of Ghana Education Service’s Continuous Professional Development Day.

The Continuous Professional Development Day(CPD) was observed on March 28, 2025. This year’s theme, “Mental Health and Psychosocial well-being of teachers,” is particularly relevant, as teachers’ mental health can significantly impact their students’ academic performance.

Mr. Issaka’s suggestion to involve parents is especially noteworthy, as they play a critical role in their children’s upbringing. As he pointed out, parents with unstable mental health can negatively affect their children’s well-being and academic performance. By involving parents in the Continuous Professional Development Day, the Ghana Education Service can promote a holistic approach to education, addressing the mental health and well-being of both teachers and parents.

Involving School Management Committees and other stakeholders can also foster a sense of community and shared responsibility for education. As seen in various studies, community participation in school management can have a positive impact on educational outcomes.
