Burnt Atebubu Market, restructured and handed over to owners

The Atebubu Market, which suffered a devastating fire outbreak on May 4, 2024, has been restructured and handed over to its owners on March 24, 2025.

This achievement is thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Assembly, the Nananom of Atebubu Traditional Area, and other stakeholders.

Mr. Asamoah Mensah, the market manager, expressed gratitude to the Assembly and the Traditional Area for their support in reviving the market.

Mr Tang Joseph, the coordinating director of Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Assembly revealed that the reconstruction was funded partly by the government’s allocation for the Divisional Police office in New Konkrompe and internal generated funds(IGF).

To prevent future fire incidents, a Ghana Fire Service station has been established within the market, and a clinic has been set up to provide medical assistance, the Assembly announced.

Mr Tang Joseph encouraged traders to pay their taxes to enable the Assembly to undertake more developmental projects.

Ohempon Benkumhene, Nanaba Owusu Afriyie, representing HRM Ohempon Dr. Yeboah Asiamah, commended the Assembly’s efforts and urged market women to maintain the facilities properly. He also warned storekeepers who had illegally converted their stores into kiosks to revert to the original structure within two weeks.
