Atebubu-Amantin Watch

HRM Ohempon Dr. Yeboah Asiamah rejects 15 cattle offered by Fulani herdsmen, insists on full protection of farm produce in Atebubu.

Atebubumanwura, Ohempon Dr. Yeboah Asiamah, President of Atebubu Traditional Area, has taken a bold stance against settling of Fulani herdsmen and their cattle on his land. Thus, has rejected 15 cattle offered by Fulani herdsmen agents, citing concerns that accepting them would undermine his efforts to protect local farms from destruction.

This move comes after Ohempon banned Fulani herdsmen from Atebubu land due to the significant damage they cause to farm produce. To provide relief to already affected farmers, Ohempon instructed the Farmer’s Association Committee to reimburse those who suffered losses due to loath herdsmen’s actions.

In a press conference held on March 12, 2025, Ohempon reassured farmers that his decisions would prioritize the protection of farm produce and not personal gain. This stance aims to safeguard the livelihoods of local farmers and ensure the long-term sustainability of agriculture in the region.
