Atebubu Welcomes a New Era of Service Delivery, DVLA Office Secured Through Ohempon’s Leadership

Atebubu is set to witness a significant transformation in public service accessibility as the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) prepares to open its first-ever office in the traditional area. This landmark development is a huge win for the community, thanks to the sustained leadership efforts of HRM Ohempon Dr. Yeboah Asiamah, Paramount Chief of Atebubu.
For years, residents of Atebubu and surrounding communities have travelled long distances to access DVLA services, often at great inconvenience and cost. Recognizing this gap and its impact on social and economic productivity, Ohempon initiated formal engagements with the DVLA management. His request was positively received, and the Authority has now agreed to establish a full office in Atebubu.

While Ohempon has committed to providing a portion of the stool land for the construction of a permanent DVLA office in the near future, he also acknowledged the urgency of creating a temporary operational base to serve the public without delay. To this end, he wrote to the management of the Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA) seeking approval for the use of their facility as an interim DVLA office. This effort was strengthened by a personal follow-up meeting on Monday, November 17, during which Ohempon presented the community’s needs and his commitment to facilitating a seamless operational start.
The meeting was highly successful. The GEA welcomed the proposal and is preparing to release its premises to host the DVLA temporarily. To ensure uninterrupted operations and eliminate financial barriers that might delay the service rollout, Ohempon has voluntarily agreed to pay a two-year rent, amounting to more than sixty thousand Ghana cedis, on behalf of the DVLA.
This gesture exemplifies Ohempon’s dedication to community development, administrative efficiency, and strengthened public service delivery. It also underscores his broader agenda of modernizing Atebubu and positioning it as a regional hub for commerce, mobility, and economic growth.

With the premises secured and financial commitments addressed, the DVLA is expected to begin operations in early 2026 once final agreements and payments are concluded. When operational, the new office will offer licensing, registration, and vehicle inspection services, reducing travel burdens, improving compliance, enhancing road safety, and stimulating local employment.
It is important to acknowledge the collaborative role of the present Government through the effective leadership of DVLA and GEA, most importantly the leadership of the Bono East Regional Minister, the MP of Atebubu-Amantin, Atebubu-Amantin MCE, and Bono East Regional NDC Treasurer, Mr. Raphael Kofi Gapson, for their efforts in strengthening this move.
This milestone reflects the power of collaborative leadership, purposeful engagement with state institutions, and the unwavering resolve of Atebubu’s traditional authority to champion transformational change. As the DVLA prepares to open its doors, the people of Atebubu can look forward to faster service delivery, increased convenience, and yet another progressive step in the area’s long-term development journey under the visionary leadership of Ohempon Dr Yeboah Asiamah.
