Dormaahene Donates to Mɛkɔ Bono DF; Calls for Unity Among Bonoman.
Dormaahene Oseadeeyo Nana Dr. Agyeman Badu II, the revered traditional leader of Dormaa, made a generous donation of 7 billion Ghana cedis old currency to the BONO Development Fund during the MEKO BONO Festival 2024 hosted in Techiman. This significant contribution was announced at the grand durbar of the festival, where Nana Agyeman Badu II also urged other paramount chiefs to support the development of the Bono and Bono-East regions.
In his address as a guest speaker at the event, Nana Agyeman Badu II emphasized the importance of unity among the people of Bono. He highlighted that the festival is not only a platform for seeking development but also a means of bringing the people of Bono together in solidarity and harmony.
The donation made, is intended to create job opportunities in the Bono land, with a commitment to transparency and accountability to the people of Bono.
As the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, Nana Agyeman Badu II commended the efforts of some paramount chiefs in rapidly developing their towns. He specifically mentioned Atebubumanwura, HRM Ohempon Dr. Yeboah Asiamah, for their exemplary leadership in spearheading development projects such as the newly built Atebubu Traditional Palace(PIABIRE Palace). Nana Agyeman Badu II highlighted these projects as models for other chiefs in Bono to emulate, emphasizing the rich cultural heritage and history of the Bono people as the first clan of the Akan ethnic group.
The MEKO BONO Festival, initiated by Bono Fie in 2022, has become a significant cultural event in the Bono region. With Sunyani hosting the festival for the past two years, the 2024 edition in Techiman marked a milestone in promoting unity, development, and cultural heritage among the people of Bono.
