According to reports gathered by Ask Ghana, tensions rose when one of the mourners insulted a female police officer at the barrier. This disrespectful act led to a confrontation that quickly spiraled out of control. The female officer called for backup, and soon more officers arrived on the scene. In an attempt to disperse the crowd, one officer fired warning shots into the air. However, chaos ensued when some of the mourners and some police officers tried to disarm him, leading to a tragic accident.
In the heat of the moment, the gun went off, and a fellow officer was struck in the abdomen. Realizing the harm he had caused, the officer responsible fled the scene, leaving behind a colleague in critical condition. The injured officer was quickly rushed to a nearby clinic for emergency treatment before being transferred to Techiman Hospital. Despite the efforts of medical staff, the officer tragically succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind a grieving family and devastated colleagues.
