HRM Ohempon Dr. Yeboah Asiamah pays courtesy call on DVLA CEO, Hon. Julius Neequaye Kotey

On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, His Royal Majesty Ohempon Dr. Yeboah Asiamah paid a visit to Hon. Julius Neequaye Kotey, the newly appointed CEO of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), to extend his congratulations to the latter on his new role. Ohempon encouraged Hon. Kotey to commit to selfless and impact-driven leadership to leave a commendable legacy in transport regulation in Ghana.

Ohempon also highlighted the need to establish a DVLA office in Atebubu to cater to the needs of the local population and surrounding areas, to improve the service delivery of the authority. He underscored the challenges faced by the people of Atebubu and surrounding towns in accessing DVLA services, which include vehicle registration, license renewal, and roadworthiness certification. These services are currently not available in Atebubu, causing significant inconvenience for drivers and other individuals who require them. As a result, some drivers resort to compromising the system, thus contributing to the country’s revenue gap.

Ohempon assured the CEO that he would provide land and related logistics to facilitate the establishment of a DVLA office in Atebubu. In response, Hon. Kotey expressed his gratitude for the visit and pledged to pursue the establishment of a DVLA office in Atebubu. He noted that this office would also serve the neighbouring districts of Sene East, Sene West, Pru East, and Pru West.

Hon. Kotey further mentioned that the establishment of the DVLA office would create job opportunities for the people of Atebubu and its environs, aligning with the vision of H.E. John Dramani Mahama to create more jobs for the people of Ghana, particularly the youth.

Present at the meeting were Lawyer Foster Akwasi Asante, Deputy CEO of DVLA, Raphael Kofi Gapson, NDC Treasurer for Bono East, and other officers of the authority.
