Congratulations to Kofi Kinaata as Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II mentioned his name when giving his speech at the General conference of the Ghana Bar Association.
In his speech, the ruler of the Ashanti Kingdom used the phrase ‘Obi nya way3’ from Kofi Kinaata’s hit song ‘Susuka’ to emphasise the importance of appreciating Ghana.
He highlighted that despite various challenges, many countries aspire to be like Ghana, and he encouraged citizens to reflect on Kofi Kinaata’s insightful lyrics.
He stated that the wisdom of musicians like Kofi Kinaata is extraordinary.
“I can think of many countries that look up to Ghana and wish they were just like us. Sometimes listen to the wisdom of our musicians and reflect on a piece like Kofi Kinaata’s ‘Obi nyaway3’ which means ‘Someone wishes they were like you.” he stated in his speech.
This elicited applause from the audience, acknowledging Otumfuo’s stance.
