Abeasemanhene, Obrempong Kru Takyi II Calls for Development and Government Appointments

During the vibrant Kwabena Festival, a significant cultural event marked by unity and tradition, Obrempong Kru Takyi II, the esteemed traditional president of the Abease Traditional Jurisdiction, made a heartfelt appeal to the political parties contending in the 2024 general elections.
Addressing a gathering of locals and visitors, Obrempong Kru Takyi II emphasized the urgent need for infrastructural development within the region. He highlighted the discovery of a vast cave system, extending over twenty kilometers, which holds the potential to become a major tourist attraction. The traditional leader urged the victorious party to prioritize the transformation of this natural wonder into a tourist site, thereby boosting the local economy and preserving the area’s rich heritage.

In addition to the cave development, Obrempong Kru Takyi II shed light on the educational needs of the community. He called for the construction of dormitories for Abeaseman Senior High School, which would greatly benefit the students by providing them with safe and convenient accommodation.
The scarcity of potable water was another critical issue raised by the traditional leader. He recounted how the former head of state, Kofi Abrefa Busia, had once provided a mechanized water supply for the community. Unfortunately, since its breakdown, no subsequent government has taken steps to refurbish this essential facility.
In a move to foster local governance and development, Obrempong Kru Takyi II also appealed for the inclusion of qualified youths from his jurisdiction in government appointments. He expressed confidence in the capabilities of the local youth, stating that they are well-suited for various positions within the government, which would facilitate smoother and more effective development initiatives in the region.
The Kwabena Festival, known for its elaborate celebrations including the carrying of the Chief in a palanquin amidst drumming, singing, and dancing, served as the perfect backdrop for these significant appeals. It is hoped that the calls for development and participation in governance will resonate with the political parties and lead to positive changes for the people of Abease.
