It is truly disheartening to see the politicization of the Atebubu Astroturf project, a much-needed facility for the talented youth of the community. The fact that Atebubu, a town known for producing exceptional football talents, does not have a proper pitch for these talents to showcase their skills is a travesty.
The dismantling of the town park to make way for the Astroturf was a step in the right direction, but the abandonment of the project is a huge setback for the youth of Atebubu. Players like Grace Asantewaa, Doris Boaduwaa currently forming integral part of the Ghana Women’s National Team, Black Galaxies star, Hafiz Ibrahim and other players making services to clubs like Attram De Visser Soccer Academy, Nsoatreman FC, Legon Cities, Ampem Darkoa Ladies FC, Fosu Royals etc in the Ghana domestic leagues are all shining examples of the talent that Atebubu has offered.
It is imperative that the government, regardless of political affiliation, comes together to prioritize the completion of the Astroturf project. The benefits of having a proper pitch for the youth of Atebubu are immense – not only will it provide a platform for these talented individuals to hone their skills and attract the attention of scouts, but it will also bring pride and recognition to the community as a whole.
Instead of playing politics with the project, it is time for all stakeholders to put aside their differences and work towards a common goal – the development of the Atebubu Astroturf. The youth of Atebubu deserve better, and it is up to us to ensure that they have access to the facilities they need to succeed in the world of football.
Let us stop politicizing the Atebubu Astroturf project and focus on what truly matters – the future of our youth and the growth of our community. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that Atebubu continues to be a powerhouse of football talent in Ghana.
