Krachiwura’s Driver “35 Drowns in the Volta Lake

The Krachiwura and president of the Oti Regional House of Chiefs’ driver, aged “35 yesterday drowned in the Volta Lake, an area named “Taylor Woodrow”(locally called “Talawudu”).

The 35-year-old driver to the President of the Oti Regional House of Chiefs, Nana Mprah Besemuna III reportedly drowned in the early hours of Thursday, 29th February, 2024.

There hasn’t been any official communique of his death from the palace of the most revered chief but reports indicate that the deceased, Kwasi Obimpeh had gone there to wash a Toyota V8 in the lake when the incident occurred.

Eyewitnesses reported that while washing the car, it suddenly began moving into the lake.

In Obimpeh’s attempt to stop the car from sinking, he jumped into the water with the intent of entering the car to apply the brakes.

But he was outweighed by the car, and he drowned with it.

The Ghana Police Service, National Fire Service, and Marine Police did their best to rescue the young man but their effort was fruitless.

After a thorough search, Kwasi was found but gave up the ghost on their way to the Krachi Government Hospital.

The car was later removed from the lake.

The body has been deposited at the hospital’s morgue while investigation goes on.

The President of the Krachi Youth Association, Mr. Ben McCarthy Ntoso who was at the scene expressed surprise and disbelief.

Mr. Ntoso, however, eulogized the security services for their prompt response.

Meanwhile, the President of the Oti Regional House of Chiefs, Nana Mprah Besemuna III is yet to comment on the unfortunate occurrence.
